Shift: Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Hours: 36 hours/week
Schedule: 3 × 12-hour shifts
Experience: Minimum 1 year ICU experience — Required
Weekend: Every 3rd weekend
Holiday: 1 winter holiday and 1 summer holiday required
Required License & Certifications
- Active RN License
- BLS — Required
- ACLS — Required
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Job Responsibilities
Patient Assessment
- Perform thorough, systematic, comprehensive, and accurate patient assessments.
- Apply knowledge of normal growth and development from pediatric through geriatric populations.
- Assess patients across the continuum of care and identify changes in condition.
Clinical Skills
- Provide competent direct patient care.
- Deliver appropriate nursing care based on patient needs and diagnoses.
- Demonstrate knowledge of emergency equipment and procedures.
Documentation
- Maintain complete and accurate patient documentation.
- Document nursing assessments, interventions, patient progress, and education.
- Follow applicable documentation guidelines.
Professionalism & Patient Satisfaction
- Maintain professional and respectful communication with patients, families, and coworkers.
- Promote a patient- and family-centered care environment.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
Safety
- Follow National Patient Safety Goals and Universal Protocol.
- Use two patient identifiers.
- Follow safe patient-transfer techniques and proper body mechanics.
Unit-Specific Responsibilities
- Care for high-acuity Step-Down Unit (SDU) patients.
- Demonstrate knowledge of relevant diagnoses, procedures, and equipment.
- Assess patient responses to procedures and treatments.
- Prioritize care based on patient condition and changes in clinical status.
- Collaborate with the perioperative and multidisciplinary care teams when applicable.
Patient Education
- Assess patient and family understanding of procedures and instructions.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative education when applicable.
- Involve patients and family members in the care and education process.
PAT RN Responsibilities
- Support timely completion of Pre-Admission Testing (PAT).
- Review PAT orders for appropriateness and potential omissions based on the planned surgery, patient age, and current health status.
