ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our team. This position is focused on providing excellent patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Position Overview

The ICU is a 20-bed Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit responsible for caring for a diverse range of adult patients, including those with severe conditions such as substance abuse, psychiatric disorders, diabetes ketoacidosis (DKA), sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, renal failure, and cardiogenic shock. The team benefits from the constant presence of attendings and residents in the unit.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients.
• Monitor patients with complex medical needs, including reading telemetry strips.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Float to medical/surgical units as required, managing up to 4 or 5 patients when necessary.
• Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of continuous experience in an adult ICU, preferably in a MICU.
• Active RN license in Massachusetts.
• Current certifications in BLS and ACLS.
• Strong ability to read telemetry strips and respond to changes in patient condition.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.

Patient Care Environment

• Patient-to-nurse ratios of 1:2 or 1:1 with high acuity; 1:4 or 1:5 when floating to other units.
• Utilization of EPIC for electronic medical records and charting.
