ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

The ICU Registered Nurse (RN) will provide care in a Level III Trauma Center within a 20-bed Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). This unit caters to a diverse population of adult patients with various complex medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients with conditions such as substance abuse/overdose, severe psychiatric conditions, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), sepsis, gastrointestinal bleed, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, renal failure, and cardiogenic shock.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips; maintain competency in telemetry.
• Collaborate with attendings and residents who are present 24/7 in the ICU.
• Participate in patient care rounds and contribute to interdisciplinary care plans.
• Float to Medical/Surgical units as required, managing a patient ratio of 1:2 to 1:1 in high acuity settings and 1:4 to 1:5 in other areas.

Qualifications

• Must have 2+ years of continuous MICU nursing experience.
• Active Nursing License in Massachusetts.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
• Telemetry competency is mandatory.

Work Schedule

This position requires commitment to 36 hours per week, including rotating shifts (day/evening/night) and every other weekend (EOW) as needed.
