ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Connecticut
• At least 2 years of recent emergency department and/or intensive care unit nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale certification or demonstrated competency, as required
• Recent experience using EPIC electronic medical records
• Ability to float between ICU, intermediate care, and medical-surgical units based on patient-care needs
• Compliance with applicable influenza and COVID-19 vaccination requirements; approved medical or religious exemptions may be accepted
• Willingness to participate in mandatory overtime when needed to support safe unit coverage

Critical Care Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill and medically complex patients during overnight shifts
• Assess patient conditions, recognize changes in clinical status, and implement timely nursing interventions
• Safely care for patients across intensive care, intermediate care, and medical-surgical settings
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care
• Administer medications and treatments according to established clinical standards
• Monitor patients, document care accurately in EPIC, and communicate updates to providers and care teams
• Support safe patient transitions, clinical handoffs, and continuity of care
• Maintain professional nursing standards while adapting to varying patient ratios and unit workflows
• Participate in rotating weekend, holiday, and additional coverage assignments as needed
