ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care in a Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit. This position requires a strong background in critical care nursing and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Unit Description

The 20-bed Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) serves a diverse patient population, including individuals with conditions such as:

• Substance Abuse/Overdose
• Severe Psychiatric Conditions
• Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Sepsis
• Gastrointestinal Bleed
• Respiratory Failure
• Cardiac Arrest
• Renal Failure
• Cardiogenic Shock

Healthcare professionals, including attendings and residents, are available in the ICU 24 hours a day to support patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the MICU.
• Conduct thorough assessments and monitor patient progress.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Assist with various medical procedures and interventions.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to implement care plans.
• Ensure effective communication with patients and their families about care options and progress.
• Maintain proficiency in reading telemetry strips and responding to emergencies.
• Float to Medical/Surgical units when required, managing up to 4 or 5 patients.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Massachusetts.
• 2+ years of continuous MICU experience required.
• Telemetry competency is essential.
• BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, and nights as needed.

Additional Information

This position includes a total of 36 hours per week with opportunities for 48-hour shifts. Free on-site parking is available for all staff members.
