Job Title: Infection Preventionist & Employee Health Profession: RN Specialty: Infection Preventionist & Employee Health Duration: 13 Shift: Day Shift, Part Time Hours per Shift: Must have worked in and be experienced as an infection preventionist. Experience: Minimum of two years in an acute care setting preferred. License: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice required. Certifications: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor preferred. Must-Have: Infection Control Certification preferred. Description: This role performs surveillance, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI). The position involves infection prevention education. Responsibilities include writing and updating infection prevention policies and procedures. Responsibilities ensure compliance with regulatory standards. The individual must be proficient in hospital epidemiology principles. This position is also responsible for the surveillance, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of hospital-acquired infections. Conducting initial assessments and maintaining records of work injuries and illnesses is required. The individual collaborates with Human Resources to ensure completion of all employee health screenings and annual immunization updates. Also required is the reporting of employee injuries and illnesses. Ongoing surveillance investigation and follow-up of infections is essential. This includes reviewing admission diagnoses, microbiology culture results, isolation orders, patient records, consultation requests, and post-discharge surveillance. The individual will conduct environmental rounds in all care areas. Trend analysis and risk factor assessment will inform the design and evaluation of prevention and control strategies. Participation in the investigation and reporting of unusual hospital infection outbreaks is necessary. The role involves conducting infection prevention rounds hospital-wide in alignment with infection prevention goals. The individual will provide education to healthcare personnel and communicate findings and recommendations. Providing new hire orientation regarding infection prevention and control is part of the role. Assistance in organizing infection control-related meetings and disseminating recommendations is expected. Participation in quality/performance improvement activities is required. Assessment, monitoring, and measuring of nosocomial infections will occur on a continuous basis. The role includes planning, organizing, developing, and implementing new employee orientation and educational programs. Techniques for avoidance and preventive measures will be included. Conducting new hire screenings and annual employee health screenings is required. The individual will provide initial assessments of employee injuries and referrals for treatment. Monitoring and reporting of work injuries and illnesses will be part of the responsibilities. Surveillance and follow-up of employee exposures to communicable diseases is essential. Maintaining employee health records and reporting employee illness/injury occurrences will be required. Performing other job-related duties as assigned is expected.
