Description:
Open to 6, 8, 10, or 13-week contracts.
Level 2 trauma designation with a teaching hospital residency program.
Common diagnoses include general trauma, chest pain events, strokes, respiratory illnesses, seizures, and abdominal infections.
The medical-surgical floors handle overflow and difficult-to-place patients with various diagnoses.
Critical care areas include stepdown units focusing on neurology and cardiac patients.
The intensive care unit combines medical, surgical, neuro, and cardiac care.
Patient ratios in MedSurg are 1:5 during the day and can increase to 1:6 in staffing crises.
ICU staffing ratios are 1:2, which may adjust to 1:3 based on patient acuity.
Support within the department includes CNAs, nurse techs, respiratory therapists, and phlebotomists.
Technology and equipment utilized include an EMR system, cardiac monitors, and specialty beds.
Floating to all medical-surgical and critical care areas may occur.
Weekend rotations are required every other week, with holiday expectations at 70%.
Requests for time off may be accommodated during contract extensions.
Teamwork and timely response to patient needs are highly valued within the department.
