Position: Registered Nurse – Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Location: Lufkin
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Shift: Night Shift
Schedule: 3×12
Experience Required: 2 Years
Weekly Pay:$1840 to $2040
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit
Perform detailed patient assessments and continuously monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, neurological status, and hemodynamic stability
Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, vasoactive drips, and other prescribed treatments
Operate and monitor advanced ICU equipment, including ventilators, infusion pumps, cardiac monitors, and invasive monitoring devices
Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies
Assist physicians during emergency procedures, intubations, central line placements, and bedside interventions
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
Collaborate with intensivists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, case managers, and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals
Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, recovery expectations, and discharge planning
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, patient safety standards, and ICU best practices
Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care while supporting patients and families during critical situations
Requirements
Active Texas Registered Nurse (RN) License or Compact RN License
Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience
Current BLS Certification required
Current ACLS Certification required
NIH Stroke Scale Certification preferred
Experience caring for ventilated patients and managing advanced cardiac and critical care monitoring
Strong assessment, critical thinking, communication, and emergency response skills
Experience using electronic medical record (EMR) systems preferred
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple critically ill patients in a fast-paced environment
