Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years ICU experience License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Critical care skill set, ventilator management, cardiac rhythm interpretation Description: This facility is licensed for 457 beds and serves as a Level 3 Trauma center. It is recognized as a Stroke Center of Excellence and a Bariatric Center of Excellence. The unit consists of 40 beds with a typical patient census of around 40. Patient types include ventilated patients, stroke and thrombectomy patients, as well as those requiring opti-flow and BiPAP support. Common conditions include overdose cases, GI bleeds, and some trauma patients. The patient ratios for RNs are typically 1:1 to 1:3. General ICU skills required include critical care medication administration, management of invasive lines, and blood product administration. Supporting staff includes CNAs who assist with patient care, blood sugars, and mobility. Charge nurses are available 24/7, along with hospitalists and intensivists. Telemetry monitoring is provided with hardwire monitors and travel tele boxes. Floating may be required within the region, and travelers will be compensated for time spent traveling between facilities. Weekend rotations occur every other weekend, and there are no on-call requirements. Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays, and requests for time off can be approved up to 6 days, not including holidays. The unit culture emphasizes teamwork among all shifts. Scrub color is navy.
