Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU/PCU | 
Location- Albemarle, NC 28001
Night shift role (7 PM-07AM, 36 hrs/week, no call)

Join a teamwork-oriented ICU team at this 109-bed Advanced Primary Stroke Center (no trauma designation, non-teaching facility). Deliver high-acuity care in a 10-ICU/4-PCU bed unit (PCU surge only; avg. census 7.3 patients/day). Night shift role (1900-0700, 36 hrs/week, no call) with every-other-weekend rotation and 75% holiday commitment for travel-ready nurses.

Key Responsibilities & Patient Care

Provide critical care for patients with sepsis, COPD, CHF, chest pain, MI/NSTEMI, stroke/TIA, cardiac arrhythmias, uncontrolled DM/DKA, minor trauma, ETOH withdrawal, ARDS, and respiratory illnesses (e.g., flu, COVID).

  • Manage ratios of 1:2-3 (acuity-dependent; may mix ICU/Med-Tele).

  • Perform stroke/NIH assessments, cardiac rhythm interpretation, A-lines/CVPs, critical care drips (titration), chest tubes, PIV starts, TNK admin, vent mgmt (RT settings), trach/NGT/drain care (Dobhoff/PEG/Hemovac/JP/Flexiseals/Foley), PCA pumps, wound care, and 12-lead EKGs.

  • Administer meds including titratable cardiac/critical drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids.

Qualifications
  • 18-24 months ICU RN experience (first-time travelers welcome).

  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.

Support & Environment
  • Robust team: 24/7 RT/hospitalist, house supervisor, charge nurse, phlebotomy, dayshift IV/VAT; intensivist Mon-Fri (night report required); intubation hierarchy (hospitalist > CRNA > ED).

  • Tech: Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell dispensing, Philips monitors (RNs read tele).

  • Culture: Communication-driven with constructive feedback.

Scheduling & Logistics
  • Orientation: NEO + 2-3 departmental days.

  • RTO: Manager-approved; 6-week cycles (clock 1838-1845).

  • Floating: Required within Stanly (Med-Tele 1:4, ED holds, Behavioral Health med pass) and Region 1 (Cabarrus, University City, Lake Norman, Central Division incl. CMC Main/Mercy/LCH peds)—paid mid-shift travel. Decline if unwilling.

  • Dress: Navy scrubs (white/navy undershirt; no T-shirts/Crocs). Parking: Free.
