Job Summary

Join a highly specialized 20-bed Cardiac Vascular Center (CVC) ICU in Lawrenceville, Georgia. This unit provides critical care for patients undergoing a variety of complex open heart, vascular, and thoracic surgeries, requiring advanced monitoring and interventions.

As a Cardiac ICU RN, you will manage critically ill patients, utilizing specialized equipment and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. This is a travel assignment; candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of Lawrenceville, GA.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, specialized nursing care to critically ill post-operative cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgery patients.
• Monitor and interpret complex hemodynamic data, cardiac rhythms, and vital signs.
• Manage patients requiring advanced life support devices such as intra-aortic balloon pumps, Impella, and CRRT.
• Administer medications, titrate vasoactive drips, and perform treatments according to physician orders and hospital protocols.
• Assess patient conditions, identify changes, and implement appropriate interventions in a timely manner.
• Collaborate effectively with cardiologists, surgeons, intensivists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Educate patients and families on care plans and recovery processes.
• Maintain accurate and thorough electronic health records.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of two (2) years of recent, direct experience in a Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or similar critical care setting.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency in critical care nursing practices for cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgery patients.
• Expertise in managing patients with intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), Impella, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), and epicardial pacemakers.
• Strong hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation skills.
• Ability to rapidly assess and respond to changes in patient condition.

• Holiday Expectations: Must work two (2) major holidays (Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day) and one (1) minor holiday (The Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve) during the assignment.
