Travel Nurse RN - Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Critical Care - $1,927 per week in Sugar Land, TX

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Must have experience with ventilators, drip management, and DKA management. Description: The unit has a total of 16 beds. Nurse to patient ratios are typically 2:1. BLS and ACLS certifications are required. CRRT and IABP training are preferred but not mandatory. Common patient diagnoses include CHF, DKA, respiratory failure, metabolic acidosis, renal failure, and encephalopathy. RNs are required to titrate cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation medications. A charge nurse is present on each shift and does not take an assignment. The availability of nurse aids/patient care techs depends on the day and unit census. Clientists and intensivists are in-house 24/7. Respiratory therapy is available in the unit around the clock. RNs are only required to troubleshoot equipment such as vents, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen. There are no tele/monitor techs; ICU nurses and the charge nurse are responsible for monitoring patient telemetry. Self-scheduling is allowed with weekend requirements of 6 shifts in a 6-week period. Weekend and holiday requirements include 1 major and 1 minor holiday for spring and fall. Floating requirements may apply. The dress code is royal blue. The charting system used is EPIC.
