Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of PCU/Stepdown/ICU experience is required. Travel experience is preferred. License: Valid state nursing license is required. Certifications: ACLS certification is required. BLS certification is required. NIHSS certification is required. Must-Have: Must be comfortable floating between Stepdown, ICU, and MedSurg units. Cannot live within 50 miles of the facility. Description: This is a Stepdown role that frequently requires floating to ICU and MedSurg units. The traveler must be comfortable working in both settings. Patient ratios are as follows: Stepdown 1:4-5; ICU 1:2; MedSurg 1:5-6. Floating is required across Stepdown, ICU, and MedSurg units. The role involves managing non-titrating drips such as Amiodarone, NTG, Cardizem, Lopressor, and Cardene. Common patient care includes post-cardiac catheterization and managing patients receiving peritoneal dialysis. Experience with bi-level positive airway pressure and heated high flow is necessary. All staff must administer medications and manage various types of intravenous infusions. Knowledge of wound care and managing complex cardiac patients is essential. The unit has a daily census of 17 patients with 21 beds available. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. The patient population may include individuals with CHF, COPD, respiratory failure, pneumonia, and other cardiac conditions. Teamwork and collaboration are essential to ensure high-quality patient care. Flexibility with scheduling is necessary as weekends and holidays are part of the role. It is important to understand floating policies and the provision of appropriate orientation to new units.
