Description:
This position is in an Intensive Care Unit with a total of 10 beds.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2.
Common diagnoses include heart failure, respiratory failure, sepsis, ventilated patients, GI bleeds, strokes, post-operative complications, and pneumonia.
Travelers will not be assigned to specialty surgeries.
Nurses are required to titrate drips, which may include propofol, Levophed, dobutamine, vasopressin, fentanyl, epinephrine, and diltiazem.
A charge nurse does not take patients on each shift.
There is administrative support on site 24/7, as well as a crisis nurse available around the clock.
Respiratory therapists are present in the ICU 24/7.
The unit does not have tele/monitor techs; registered nurses are responsible for reading strips using Spacelabs equipment.
Shifts are scheduled by the unit scheduler, and nurses are expected to work weekends as needed.
There is no on-call or standby requirement for this position.
Nurses may float to other units but will aim to maintain a manageable ratio of 1:3.
Dress code is flexible as long as attire is clean and professional.
