Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Critical Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year in specialty, including EPIC experience License: State RN License Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: - Must have a minimum of one year of experience in a critical care setting. - Must have at least one year of EPIC experience. Description: Shift is 3x12 Nights from 19:00 to 07:30. Floating is required if there is a need. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend, subject to change based on need. This is a Long Term Acute Care unit with an emphasis on ICU care. The unit will accept first-time travelers depending on experience in the specialty. Patient demographics include adults aged 18 and older. Common patient diagnoses include vent weaning, wound care, spinal cord injury, tracheostomy, and PEG care. The unit consists of a 12-bed ICU and a 31-bed Med-Surg unit where staff may work in both areas. Interdisciplinary support is available, including physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, and pharmacy. Staff will only float to units for which they are qualified. All competencies must have been demonstrated and documented before floating. Patient ratios for days are 2:1, nights are 2:1, and weekends are 3:1. The unit requires staff to participate in ongoing education and training. Patients typically present with diagnoses such as chronic/acute renal failure and pneumonia. Skills required include management of dysrhythmias, central line care, interpretation of arterial blood gases, and ventilation management. Ongoing evaluations and assessments are conducted to ensure quality patient care. This role involves working closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care.
