Job Title: Critical Care Float Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Critical Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 3 years in Critical Care, including floating to PCU and MS. License: Must have a valid registered nursing license in hand prior to start date. Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Traveler must be aware they may be asked to float across ICU, MS, and PCU, as well as to ED as supporting staff. Experience with higher patient ratios is required. Candidates must be able to manage ventilators, Arctic Sun, and intra-aortic balloon pumps (rare). Description: This position requires a registered nurse specializing in Critical Care, floating between various units based on departmental needs. Registered nurses must be prepared to take high patient ratios and attend to critical cases, including ARDS, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, DKA, and acute shock. The registered nurse will provide care for ventilated patients and manage various procedures like chest tube insertion/removal and cardiac monitoring. The nurse will also support interventions such as cardioversion, stress tests, and sheath pulls. Team members must exhibit excellent clinical skills in administering medications, performing phlebotomy, and monitoring patient vitals. Floating is essential and will occur between various units including ICU, PCU, MS, and ED as needed. Candidates must work 2 of 3 major holidays during their contract duration. Local candidates will not be accepted for this role. All certifications must be current and in-hand, including ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are crucial. Candidates will be expected to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide optimal patient care.
