About the Position
RN ICU – Float Pool (Zone 1)
Location:Centennial (80112)
Pay: Competitive (Open – based on experience)
Shift: 12-Hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Schedule: 6–9 Weekend Shifts per 6 Weeks
Duration: 13 Weeks (extension possible)
High-Acuity ICU Float Opportunity
Join a dynamic ICU Float Pool (Zone 1) supporting multiple facilities across the Colorado Springs region. This role offers exposure to a variety of ICU settings (MICU, SICU, TICU, CVICU) with diverse patient populations and high-acuity care.
Important Notes (Must Read)
- No Home Base Facility – You will float across all Zone 1 hospitals
- Must be willing to float within a 60-mile radius
- Driver's License required at submission
- Housing must accommodate floating requirements
Required Qualifications
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS – Required
- Minimum 2 years ICU experience
- First-time travelers: Must have 3+ years ICU + Epic experience
- Strong experience with high-acuity ICU patients
Clinical Responsibilities
- Manage critically ill patients across multiple ICU types
- Maintain 1:1–1:2 ratios (up to 1:3 if needed)
- Care for high-acuity cases including:
- CRRT, Impella, IABP
- Ventilated patients
- Titrate and manage critical drips:
- Pressors, sedation, paralytics
- Antiarrhythmics, insulin, heparin
- Interpret telemetry independently (no monitor techs)
- Assist with respiratory management & troubleshooting
Work Environment
- No nurse aides (sitters only if required)
- RT support available (not always unit-based)
- Combination ICUs (MICU, SICU, CVICU, etc.)
- Charge nurse present (may take light assignment on nights)
Schedule & Requirements
- Night shifts (7p–7a)
- Weekend Requirement: 6–9 shifts per 6 weeks
- Holiday Rotation: Possible
- Floating: Required across ICU, PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele
- Call: Rare (low census situations)
Orientation
- 1–2 days with preceptor
- Must be in-state for orientation week
