Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: Valid State License required Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: - Experience with vents, IV start, telemetry - Experience in neuro and surgical intensive care units - Skills in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias - Management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure Description: Average daily census is 6 to 8 patients. The unit has a capacity of 12 beds. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics with conditions such as stroke and cardiac issues. Responsibilities may include central line placement, bronchoscopy assistance, and PEG tube care. The nurse will work with patients who require intensive monitoring and care for conditions including acute respiratory failure, post cardiac arrest, and complex medical and surgical needs. There is a high population of patients with drug overdoses. The nurse must be proficient in managing ventilated patients and performing emergency procedures as needed. Flexibility to float to various units may be required. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams is essential for patient care. Emergency interventions and adherence to protocols for conditions like severe sepsis and shock are critical components of this role. Strong communication skills and the ability to handle multiple high-stress situations are necessary. The nurse will be expected to comply with infection prevention protocols and maintain strict isolation precautions when required.
