Must-Have:
- Minimum 9 months of travel experience required
- NIHSS certified (current certificate on file, obtained within 2 years of start date)
- Familiar with current stroke guidelines and performance measures for acute ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes
Description:
The position requires floating to step-down units.
The nurse will handle a patient ratio of 1:4.
Candidates must have experience with CRRT highly preferred.
Competency in assessing stroke signs and symptoms is required, such as BE-FAST.
Candidates should be familiar with IV-tPA administration and post-tPA monitoring.
Bedside dysphagia screening competency must be on file.
Experience with arterial line management, blood product administration, and care of ventilated patients is essential.
Management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure is expected.
Skills in emergency medications, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and ventilator management are crucial.
The unit diagnoses include cervical surgery, craniotomy, brain tumor resection, strokes, head bleeds, sepsis, respiratory failure, and seizures.
Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy, among others.
