Job Title: Registered Nurse - ICU Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of two years of documented ICU experience or completion of an approved ICU training course with didactic and clinical experiences. License: Current license as a Registered Nurse in California Certifications: BLS Certification, ACLS Certification required; PALS and CCRN encouraged Description: The Registered Nurse ICU plans, coordinates, and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. Quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit's standard of care. Demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization. Remains flexible to changing systems and demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice. Treats staff, physicians, patients, and families with consideration and respect. Adheres to the Corporate Compliance Code of Conduct. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/service appropriate to the ages of the patients served. Assesses data reflective of patient status and interprets it relative to age-specific needs. Collaborates by working with others to achieve unit and organizational goals. Maintains and meets expectations on time for all competencies, licenses, certifications, and education requirements outlined by local administration and regulatory agencies. Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcomes. Monitors hemodynamic status of patients and interprets the findings correctly. Participates in unit and integrated service projects to improve organizational performance. Performs head-to-toe assessments on all patients and reassessments per policy. Willingly performs other duties and innovations as assigned. Physical demands include frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, and working with arms above shoulder height. Frequent transferring of patients is required, including pulling, lifting, or pushing. Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will occasionally need to walk inclines and declines. Exposure to blood and body fluids is a potential risk. Flexible to floating to other areas as needed based on census. This position requires the ability to participate in rotating weekend coverage. Documentation is performed using the appropriate systems.
