Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Must-Have:
- EPIC Experience required
- ACLS certification required within six months of hire or transfer
Description:
Perform the professional functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients.
Coordinate, manage, provide, and delegate patient care.
Be responsible for meeting the established Standards of Nursing Practice and promoting cooperation among the healthcare team.
Assure patients' personal needs are met.
Assist in reducing noise levels in the nursing unit.
Demonstrate a commitment to coworkers.
Work as a team to ensure all patients have their needs met.
Maintain patient, coworker, and hospital privacy.
Documentation must be clear, concise, and legible.
Deliver clear and concise reports.
Complete all assigned quality monitors as directed by the department manager.
Follow infection control guidelines.
Obtain history and physical assessment according to unit-specific nursing protocol for all age groups.
Review medical history, physical examination, and all available assessment data.
Identify abnormal diagnostic data and report to the appropriate person.
Provide information needed to begin discharge planning in a timely manner, and to the appropriate personnel.
Recognize signs and symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress, or other impending emergencies.
Demonstrate knowledge and ability to effectively function in Code Blue and other emergency situations.
Administer and chart medications accurately according to hospital policies and procedures, using patients' six rights.
Implement and/or assist others in the implementation and documentation of planned education.
Assess patients' educational needs.
Assist in the development and education of new staff members.
Attend and participate in staff meetings.
Complete education, training, and competencies for department-specific skills.
Successfully adapt to changes in the unit, environment, and workflow.
Ensure all patient charge items are charged and documented correctly.
Utilize department resources appropriately.
Minimize incidental overtime.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
