Prefer IABP and Prismaflex CRRT experience.
Good EKG reading skills.
Description:
Prescreen and auto offer as long as requested time off is less than 7 days and no holiday requests.
Clinician must take and pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing a contract.
If a clinician fails to score 80% in two attempts, they will be disqualified for 6 months from specific locations.
Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with the last employer within the past year.
Nurse to patient ratios are 1:1-2 in intensive care units, per acuity and staffing.
Common diagnoses include COVID, manual proning, low level neuro, EVD, DKA, sepsis, and various critical conditions.
Travelers will take fresh open heart patients if they have that experience and can check off skills.
Nurses should be able to interpret ABGs.
Charge nurses take assignments only as a last resort.
There is hospitalist or intensivist in house 24/7, with NP supplementation.
Respiratory therapists cover all areas but are not in the ICU 24/7.
Nurses should be able to troubleshoot and help wean ventilators.
There are no tele/monitor techs on this unit; RNs are required to read their own strips.
Schedules are made 4 weeks in advance.
Self-scheduling is allowed but is reviewed and balanced by management.
Weekend requirements are 4 weekend shifts per pay period.
Some holidays will be required, but not all.
There is no scheduled call; travelers could be placed on call if low census occurs.
Travelers may float to other units as needed.
Dress code is any color professional scrub, but no camouflage scrubs.
Unit-specific orientation includes general hospital orientation and shifts with a preceptor and buddy.
Charting system used is Cerner.
