Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights (every other week), needs to float Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Must pass dysrhythmia exam within two attempts before contract signing. - Must have good EKG reading skills. - Must have experience with IABP and Prismaflex CRRT. Description: Unit notes include prescreening and auto offers if requested time off is less than 7 days and there are no holiday requests. A clinician failing the dysrhythmia exam must wait 6 months before reapplying for similar positions. The radius rule is that candidates must not have been employed with any associated facilities within the past year. The unit features CVICU with 12 beds, MS ICU with 8 beds, and PCU with 16-20 beds. Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:1-2 in ICU and 1:3-4 in the PCU based on acuity and staffing. Required skills include titrating critical care drips such as pressors and sedation. Nurses may have to step in as charge nurses only as a last resort, with supervision provided by a house supervisor. Intensivists are in-house 24/7. Respiratory therapy coverage is available, but nurses should be able to troubleshoot and help wean patients. Nurses are required to read their own telemetry strips. Scheduling is done 4 weeks in advance with some opportunity for self-scheduling. Weekend requirements typically involve 4 shifts per pay period, with holiday restrictions applicable. There is no scheduled call; however, low census may require putting travelers on call. Floating to PCU and other critical care areas may be required based on staffing levels. Professional scrubs in any color are required, but camo scrubs are not permitted.
