The assigned nurse will manage patients with various neurologic disorders, including TBI, SAH, SDH, tumor resections, and status epilepticus. The expected nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2. The nurse may be floated to other ICUs and related departments as needed. The candidate will be responsible for managing ventilated patients and caring for those with external ventricular drains. This role includes monitoring ICP and interpreting dysrhythmias. The nurse should be comfortable with administering continuous IV sedation and managing cardiac drips. Participation in a block scheduling system is possible but not guaranteed. The role requires flexibility to potentially switch to the Cardiothoracic ICU. Travelers may be called off a maximum of three times within the assignment. The facility prioritizes compliance, and candidates must be available for drug screenings and validations shortly after acceptance. All applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with exemptions accepted. The facility aims to support an interdisciplinary approach to patient care. Daily patient census typically hovers around 16, with a 16-bed capacity in the unit. This is a comprehensive stroke center, and the nurse will be involved in TPA and thrombectomy care.
