Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Multi Care Unit - Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years of ICU experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Clinicians must take and pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing the contract. - If a clinician fails to score 80% in two attempts, they will be temporarily barred from positions within this organization for 6 months. - Required experience includes at least one year of ICU and one year of PCU/Med surg in larger facilities along with strong nursing skills. - RNs are required to titrate drips including sedation, vasopressors, and insulin. Description: This is a combined acuity unit accommodating ICU, PCU, and Med-Surg patients. The unit has 10 beds. Ratios depend on patient acuity: ICU 1:2, PCU 1:4, Med Surg 1:5-6. If no nurse aide is present, RNs will take a maximum of 3 patients. Nurse aides are responsible for 10-15 patients. Respiratory therapy support is available, including vents, Bipap, and Cpap. Remote monitor technicians are available for PCU and Med-Surg patients. RNs must interpret 12-lead EKGs and monitor patients using bedside cardiac monitors. Shifts are 12 hours, either 0700-1900 or 1930-0730. Weekend requirements include working every other weekend. Holiday rotation will be structured to ensure fair distribution of holidays. If low census occurs, staff may rotate standby turns. Floating to different units is required to maintain competency in caring for all types of patients. Staff must have a two-hour notice before floating to other units. Currently, staff may wear any scrub color except camouflage. Unit-specific orientation is necessary, along with general hospital orientation. Charting is done using a specified electronic health record system.
