Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Multi Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years of ICU experience License: Required Certifications: BLS ACLS Must-Have: Candidates must pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing the contract. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience. Candidates who have worked in larger facilities should have one year of ICU and one year of PCU/Med Surg experience. Description: The Multi Care Unit is an acuity adaptable unit with a total of 10 beds. Ratios depend on patient acuity, with ICU ratios at 1:2, PCU at 1:4, and MST at 1:5-6. If a nurse assistant is not available, an RN will take 3 patients. Required certifications include BLS and ACLS. Common diagnoses include sepsis, suicide attempts, drug or alcohol withdrawal, COPD, respiratory arrest, pneumonia, COVID, DKA, and post-operative complications. Experience with titrating infusions to maintain heart rate or blood pressure is required. Nurses are expected to titrate drips for sedation, vasopressors, and insulin. Charge RNs are responsible for managing up to 50 inpatient beds. Nurse assistants may handle 10-15 patients, with varying RN assignments based on availability. RT equipment such as vents, CPAP, and BiPAP is present, and RT support is provided. Remote monitor techs assist with monitoring patients, ensuring RNs read strips. RNs must take 12-lead EKGs and monitor patients consistently. Shifts are 12 hours, rotating between 0700/1900 and 1930/0730. Weekend requirements include working every other weekend as well as holiday rotation. If there is low census, staff may rotate standby duties. Floating to various units for experience is required, with a two-hour notice for floating. Currently, scrub colors are flexible except for camouflage. Unit specific orientation will be provided.
