Job Title: Critical Care Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years recent ICU RN experience in a hospital setting License: Must have a multi-state RN license Certifications: ACLS, BLS & PALS/ENPC & TNCC (preferred but not required) Must-Have: Candidates must be prepared to take care of pediatric/adolescent patients on occasion. Description: Critical care registered nurses provide care in settings where patients have suffered severe medical issues. Responsibilities include assessing patients' conditions and planning and implementing care plans. Treatment of wounds and providing advanced life support are key aspects of the role. Assisting physicians in procedures and observing patient vital signs are essential duties. Ensuring that medical equipment such as ventilators and monitors function properly is required. Administering intravenous fluids and medications is part of the role. Suctioning and collaborating with the critical care team are necessary. Responding to life-saving situations using nursing standards and protocols is crucial. Acting as a patient advocate and providing education and support to families is expected. Critical care nurses may also care for pre- and post-operative patients. Some roles may include case management and administrative duties. Candidates may need to float between campuses depending on facility census.
