Job Title: Intensive/Critical Care Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Intensive/Critical Care Duration: 15 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM) Experience: Minimum of 2 years of acute ICU RN experience License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience in acute care nursing, patient assessment, care plan development, care plan implementation, and clinical intervention monitoring Description: A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients. The Registered Nurse focuses on safe, effective patient and family-centered care. This role emphasizes customer satisfaction and quality outcomes. The RN is responsible for maintaining a financially stable unit. Promoting personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education is essential. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. The RN applies the caring processes by assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care. Focus on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction is vital. The RN applies educational and professional experiences in delivering quality care and mentoring staff. Job Responsibilities: Assessment: Performs assessments and reassessments as warranted by patient condition. Demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions. Development & Implementation: Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care. Reviews and revises the plan as indicated. Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services. Utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of patients and families. Evaluation: Monitors and documents the response to clinical interventions. Education: Facilitates and provides education specific to patient and family needs. Coordinates and evaluates education regarding care, treatment, and services provided during their stay and at discharge. Leadership: Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. Functions as a mentor/preceptor. Demonstrates and facilitates teamwork. Identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement. Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts. Implements practice changes and complies with regulatory standards. Participates in the governance model of practice. Schedule Notes: Shifts occur from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, every other weekend. BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications are required. Experience with Epic is preferred. The patient ratio is typically 2:1. The RN needs to be able to read telemetry strips and titrate medications. Common patient diagnoses include neurological/neurosurgical, renal with CRRT, and cardiac cases. Common medications include neosynephrine, Levophed, Cardene, Cardizem, and 3% saline. EPIC charting is utilized. Scrubs are not provided, and employees wear galaxy blue. Skills required include acute care nursing, patient assessment, care plan development, care plan implementation, and clinical intervention monitoring. Additional skills that are beneficial include patient education, mentoring, teamwork, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.
