Job Title: RN - ICU/PCU Float Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit / Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years ICU experience required License: Active RN license required, pending licenses accepted under specific conditions Certifications: ACLS BLS NIHSS Must-Have: Experience in large Level 1 or 2 facilities EPIC charting experience Ability to float across all ICU and PCU units Description: Position available for an RN Float in ICU/PCU. This role requires comfort in working all ICU and PCU units. Shifts are scheduled as 3x12s from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM. Charting experience with EPIC is mandatory. Staffing needs will be re-evaluated every 4 hours, with potential floating 2-3 times per shift. There is a weekend requirement of every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block. A holiday shift is required during the 13-week contract. First-time travelers are welcome to apply. Local candidates will be considered under a specific radius rule. All requests for time off must be included with the submission. Facility allows one cancellation of shift every two weeks. Required clinical skills include: IV therapy including arterial line management, central and PICC line care, and blood product administration. Experience with respiratory support, including BiPAP and CPAP management. Proficiency in medication administration, continuous IV sedation, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips. Wound care, including management of surgical wounds with drains or wound vacs. Cardiac monitoring experience is essential, including dysrhythmia interpretation and management. Adherence to IV insulin protocol is required. Candidates must have a strong background in ICU settings. Preferred qualifications include prior charge experience and familiarity with trauma patients. The average patient ratio in the PCU is 5:1 and 2:1 in ICU. Support services available include physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy, among others. Candidates should be prepared for a dynamic work environment that may require adaptability to various roles.
