Job Title: Critical Care Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 10 weeks Shift: 06:45-19:15 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Texas RN or multi-state RN license required Certifications: ACLS & BLS certifications required Must-Have: - Certifications must be through the American Heart Association Description: Critical care registered nurses provide care in settings where patients have suffered severe medical issues. Specific duties and responsibilities include assessing patient conditions and planning and implementing care plans. Nurses treat wounds and provide advanced life support. They assist physicians in performing procedures and observe and record patient vital signs. Ensuring that medical equipment functions properly and adjusting ventilators is essential. They administer intravenous fluids and medications and perform suctioning as needed. Collaboration with fellow members of the critical care team is vital. Responding to life-saving situations using nursing standards and protocols is a key responsibility. Nurses act as patient advocates and provide education and support to patient families. They may also care for pre- and post-operative patients. Some critical care nurses serve as case managers and policy makers, while others perform administrative duties.
