Job Opportunity – Critical Care Registered Nurse – Maryland
Start Date: October 5, 2026
Location: Hagerstown, Maryland
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 36 guaranteed hours per week, 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, every other weekend required, floating to IMC as needed
Highlights:
- Specialized patient population including trauma, cardiovascular, stroke, and neuro patients
- Epic EMR system utilized for charting
- 24-hour orientation with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
- 18-bed average daily census in a 24-bed unit with advanced equipment including CRRT, intra-aortic balloon pumps, and intraventricular drains
- Collaborative care environment with physical therapy, radiology, social services, and unit secretary support
- One pre-approved time-off request available
Requirements:
- Registered Nurse with active or pending Maryland license
- Minimum 2-3 years of critical care nursing experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
- ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Experience with 1:2 patient ratios in critical care settings
- Community hospital and trauma level I or II experience strongly preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Must reside outside 50-mile local radius
- COVID-19 and flu vaccinations required with no exemptions
Essential Skills & Competencies:
- Advanced hemodynamic monitoring and management of critically ill patients
- Proficiency with arterial lines, central lines, and PICC line management
- Experience with ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
- Cardiac drip and vasoactive medication titration
- CVA/acute stroke management and post-neurosurgery care
- Blood product administration and IV insulin protocols
- Continuous sedation and paralytic management
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Experience with specialty equipment including CVVHD/CRRT, ICP monitoring, and external ventricular drains
