Travel Nurse RN - Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Critical Care - $2,221 per week in Chesapeake, VA

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardio Thoracic ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in CVICU/CTICU; travel experience preferred License: Active state or compact RN license in hand at the time of submission; no exceptions Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Must-Have: Active Virginia or Compact RN license Proficient in Epic Strong neuro experience required (post-brain surgery, EVD experience/ventriculostomy) Experience with cardiac drips and vasoactive drips Ability to manage multi-system organ failure Description: We are seeking a Registered Nurse for the Cardio Thoracic ICU. The position involves caring for step-down patients due to the universal bed model. Nurses will be required to float and work holidays within the contract. Schedules include 3x12s or 4x12s, with a requirement to work every other weekend. Typical patient ratios are 1:1-2. Responsibilities involve arterial line management, blood product administration, and central line care. Nurses will be responsible for starting IVs, managing continuous IV sedation, and administering procedural sedation. Experience with titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips is required. Candidates must possess knowledge of dysrhythmias management and strong neuro skills. Experience in post-cardiac surgery care is necessary. Nurses must be proficient in various monitoring techniques, including Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring and FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring. Care for ventilated patients and knowledge of high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) is essential. Infection prevention and adherence to isolation precautions are required. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs) and management of ventilated patients. This role involves caring for adult patients with various cardiac conditions. Experience with additional procedures and equipment relevant to cardiac care is preferred. All candidates must have a clean background with no prior license issues. Fit testing requirements apply and candidates must be able to meet P/F testing standards.
