Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Critical Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 Year Preferred License: RN License in state of employment or compact Certifications: BLS Certification, ACLS Certification Must-Have: Experience with Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps Experience with Impellas Experience with Post-op Cardiovascular surgeries Experience with CRRT Description: Two positions are available. The unit cares for patients with conditions such as DKA, Acute Respiratory Failure, MIs, CABGs, and those on ventilators. It is a mixed cardiac and medical ICU. The RN practices independently and demonstrates an awareness of relevant aspects of the situation. The RN provides both routine and complex care with the ability to manage long-range goals and plans. The RN continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies in clinical nursing. The RN makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers to help manage the clinical situation. Responsibilities include meeting expectations of the applicable competencies. Consistent with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, the RN utilizes the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. The RN addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice. Using the appropriate protocol, the RN administers medications and treatments while monitoring for side effects and effectiveness. Documentation of patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given is required. The RN assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers while identifying relevant issues and resources. Education required includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred. One year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred, but new graduates will be considered. All newly hired experienced RNs must attend orientation within the first 30 days of hire. New hires are precepted by designated trained staff members. Successful completion of competency validation is required. Annual competency verification requirements must also be completed. Work schedule is 7 PM to 7 AM. This is a full-time position. Temporarily assigned positions may lead to permanent employment.
