Job Title: RN - Cardiac ICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Cardiac ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: RN must pass an open book exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% Description: The role is focused on providing high-quality care in a fast-paced environment. The Cardiac ICU treats various patients from young adults to geriatrics. Common patient diagnoses include sepsis, STEMI, COVID-19, stroke, neurosurgery, renal failure, respiratory failure, COPD, and cancer. RNs are required to titrate drips, including sedation, paralytics, pressors, antihypertensives, heparin, and insulin. There is a Charge Nurse available on each shift, and the Charge Nurse may take an assignment. Patient Care Technicians are present in the unit with a ratio of 1:10. RNs are required to read and interpret telemetry strips independently. Shifts are scheduled by unit coordinators. Weekend and holiday coverage is required as needed. Floating to other areas of the facility may occur based on competencies. The dress code includes navy blue scrubs for RNs. The ideal candidate must be highly motivated with strong critical thinking skills. Flexibility to learn and embrace a diverse patient population is essential. The community served is culturally diverse, and the ability to provide inclusive patient care is a priority. RTO must be submitted upfront, with a limit of 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract. Additional time off requests will not be approved after submission. The facility has specific policies regarding artificial nails and related grooming standards for patient care staff. RNs will participate in bedside shift reporting and intentional hourly rounding as part of the care model. The unit utilizes an eICU remote monitoring system.
