Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience License: State RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: ASN or BSN Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources. Essential responsibilities include performing all duties required by the unit specific to the scope of service. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided is essential to ensure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. Completing initial assessments upon patient admission and developing an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards is required. The RN implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifications to the plan of care are made based on continuous evaluation. Taking responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents is crucial. Effective communication with others, directly and privately when necessary, helps to resolve issues. Offering constructive feedback assists in the professional development of peers. Conferring with colleagues to expand the knowledge base is encouraged. Identifying personal learning needs and taking initiative to find appropriate solutions is necessary. Fulfilling all requirements of departmental competencies is expected.
