Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 16 weeks Shift: 12 Hours Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years License: Yes Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: RN license Description: Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any associated facility. Weekends are Saturday and Sunday. A driver's license is required. Fingernail policy: Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. Refusal to remove artificial nails will lead to termination of the contract. RNs must pass an exam during orientation. The exam is open book and covers skills learned during orientation. Candidates will receive all necessary resources to pass the exam. A minimum score of 90% is required to pass; failure will result in termination. Blocked scheduling is only approved for weekends. Duos wanting the same schedule or car sharing will not be accepted. If placed on call and called back in, candidates must arrive within 30 minutes. The department features 33 beds, with an average daily census of 16 patients. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2-3 for adults. Common diagnoses include trauma, cardiac issues, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress. RNs are required to titrate drips, including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation. Nurse aides are present based on census and may sit in 1:1s or assist on the floor as needed. Healthcare support techs are available three days per week. RNs are required to troubleshoot respiratory equipment. Shifts are from 0630 to 1830 and 1830 to 0630. Self-scheduling is allowed for core staff, including travelers added in. Blocked scheduling cannot be guaranteed. RNs are required to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips. Floating typically occurs to the PCU and occasionally to MedSurg with the same patient ratio. A minimum of two holidays within the contract timeframe is required. Every other weekend shift is mandatory. RTO needed upfront is 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract. Additional RTO will not be approved after submissions. The hospital can cancel up to four shifts per 13-week assignment. The charting system used is EPIC.
