Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Critical Care ICU Profession: Nursing Specialty: Critical Care - Client Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 4 years in Critical Care License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience with vents, trachs, arterial lines, vasopressor and sedation management, central line blood draws, and EPIC Description: This is a critical care position focused on neurology patients. The facility is a Level III Trauma Center and Magnet Designated. The unit has 27 beds with an average census of 25 patients per day. The patient types include ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, seizures, spinal surgeries, and brain mass resections. All significant neuro-intensive care patients are assigned to core staff. The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:1-2 or 1:3 for mixed acuity status. Support within the department includes CNAs, Charge RNs, Critical Care NPs, intensivists, hospitalists, respiratory therapists, and phlebotomists. Technology includes an EMR with EPIC, IV pumps, and unit-specific equipment. Floating to other units may occur, with varying patient ratios. Team collaboration and evidence-based practice are emphasized within the unit culture. All staff are subject to a fatigue policy that limits working hours for safety. Weekend rotation and holiday expectations apply as part of scheduling. Scrubs must be solid colors without graphics or logos.
