Travel Nurse RN - Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Critical Care - $2,260 per week in Milwaukee, WI

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Critical Care - Intensive Care Unit (Client) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 4 years License: Current RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: EPIC experience, skills in vents, trachs, arterial lines, vasopressor and sedation management, and central line blood draws. Description: The facility is a Level III Trauma Center with a focus on critical care and neurology. It features 27 beds with an average patient census of 25. Patient types include ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, seizures, spinal surgeries, and brain mass resections or biopsies. The unit cares for significant neuro-intensive care patients. Patient ratios are typically 1:1-2 or 1:3 for mixed acuity situations. Support is provided by CNAs with a ratio of 1:8-10. A charge RN rarely takes on a patient assignment. There are two Critical Care Nurse Practitioners on day shifts and intensivists available 24/7. Respiratory Therapy and hospitalists are also available 24/7. Telemetry monitoring is provided at both bedside and in the central nurse’s station. Technological equipment used includes EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and GE monitors. Floating may occur to other ICU units or medical-surgical units. Weekend rotations are required every other weekend, along with holiday commitments. The unit adheres to a fatigue policy, limiting staff to a maximum of 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts. The unit culture emphasizes strong teamwork and evidence-based nursing practice.
