Travel Nurse RN - Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Critical Care - $2,290 per week in Peoria, IL

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Active Illinois license or confirmation that application process has been initiated Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: PEG tube care and feedings CVC/PICC/Midline usage and care Tracheostomy care Experience caring for sedated, ventilated patients Ability to titrate vasopressors and manage sedation and pain control drips Description: The unit has 8 ICU beds. The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2-3. Common diagnoses include respiratory failure, post-surgical cases, wound care, IV antibiotics, post-CVA, post-trauma, and cardiac patients. RNs are required to titrate drips. Common titratable drips include Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl, Versed, Lasix, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitro, Levophed, and Dopamine. A house supervisor is available 24/7. Nurses provide primary care in the ICU with no nurse aides or patient care techs assigned to the unit. Clientists and or intensivists are available in house only during the daytime; telehealth MDs are available after hours. Respiratory therapy is available in house 24/7. RNs are required to troubleshoot respiratory equipment. All ICU beds are hardwired with telemetry monitors, centrally monitored in the unit by a telemetry tech. Self-scheduling and block scheduling are not available; weekend and holiday requirements include every other weekend and holiday rotation. ICU RNs may float to the medical-surgical unit as needed. The dress code includes scrubs only, with OSF-approved t-shirts permitted in any color. Unit-specific orientation includes classroom training as per policy and two shifts on the unit with a preceptor. Charting is done using the EPIC system.
