Registered Nurse - Surgical ICU

Location: Healdsburg, CA

Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: 3x12-hour Day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, 3 shifts per week (schedule varies), weekend coverage every other weekend, float to Med/Surg and Tele as required (day shift)

Hours per Week: 36

 

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Provide expert, patient-centered nursing care to critically ill surgical patients in the ICU
  • Manage mechanical ventilation and perform ventilator adjustments with ABG interpretation
  • Start and maintain IVs, manage arterial, central and PICC lines, and safely administer blood products
  • Titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips while monitoring hemodynamic status and dysrhythmias
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (Respiratory, PT, Pharmacy, Social Work) to coordinate care and discharge planning
  • Respond to emergencies and participate in rapid response efforts to stabilize patients
  • Maintain accurate charting in the required electronic charting systems and ensure thorough handoffs
  • Float to lower-acuity MS/Tele units as needed while maintaining critical care standards
Knowledge & Skills
  • Ventilator management and interpretation of arterial blood gases
  • Arterial line, central line and PICC line care and troubleshooting
  • IV therapy including starting and maintaining IVs and phlebotomy skills
  • Titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips and continuous sedation monitoring
  • Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and emergency response
  • High Flow Nasal Cannula, BiPAP/CPAP management and chest tube assistance
  • Infection prevention, isolation precautions and proper PPE use
  • Ability to work at a 1:2 patient ratio in high-acuity settings
