Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 3 years of ICU experience required License: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse Certifications: NIHSS, BLS, and ACLS Required Must-Have: Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program; BSN highly desired Description: The ICU is a multidisciplinary unit. The unit provides care for neurological, neuro-surgical, medical, surgical, pulmonary, cardiology, cardiothoracic, and trauma patients. Various types of technology are used to care for and treat critical care patients. This technology includes ventilators, ventriculostomies, cardiac monitors, pulmonary artery catheters, arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, IABP, ECMO/tandem heart, Impella, BIS monitors, continuous pulse oximetry, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), gastric tubes, and intravenous infusion pumps. The role fulfills the needs of patients, families, and the community by performing a variety of patient care functions and tasks. These tasks are performed in accordance with licensure, certification, training, and regulatory requirements.
