Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years ICU experience required License: Valid RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Recent ICU experience - Driver's license required - Ability to pass an exam during orientation Description: Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of recent ICU experience. Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care departments. Refusal to remove artificial nails will lead to contract termination. RNs are required to pass an open book exam on skills learned during orientation. A minimum score of 90% is required to pass, or termination will occur. The unit has a capacity of 34 beds. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:1-2 for ICU and 1:5-6 for general medical-surgical patients. Common patient diagnoses include neuro surgeries, respiratory failure, sepsis, and cardiogenic shock. Training is provided in real-time for various procedures and equipment. RNs are required to titrate various medications and drips such as vasopressors and narcotics. A charge nurse is present on each shift and is responsible for attending RRTs and codes. Patient care techs are available on the unit with a typical ratio of 1:18. RNs are required to interpret telemetry strips as there are no dedicated monitor techs. Shifts are scheduled based on unit needs, with weekend requirements every other weekend. Holiday requirements include working 2 out of the 3 major holidays or as needed. Floating to other inpatient units may be required, excluding specific departments. Scrub color is navy blue. The unit is fast-paced and requires strong critical thinking skills and a positive attitude. Successful candidates will demonstrate a willingness to collaborate with team members and care providers. Additional time off requests must be specified upfront. The hospital has a cancellation policy allowing up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment. The charting system used is EPIC.
