Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Description: Unit Notes: Interview with unit leaders is required. Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. Refusal to remove nails will lead to termination of contract. RN candidates must pass a mandatory exam during orientation. The exam is open book on skills learned, with all necessary resources provided. A score of 90% is required to pass; failure will result in termination. The department typically manages a total of 34 beds. Nurse to patient ratios include 1:1-2 in ICU, 1:4-5 in PCU, and 1:5-6 in MS. Common diagnoses include respiratory failure, sepsis, stroke, and general surgery cases. Training will be provided in real-time for procedures like neuro interventions and renal failure management. RNs are required to titrate drips, including vasopressors, paralytics, and sedation. There is a charge nurse on each shift, who will attend rapid response teams and codes. Patient care techs are available, with a typical ratio of 1:18. RNs are responsible for basic troubleshooting of respiratory equipment. Tele-monitoring techs are not present, and RNs are required to read and interpret their own telemetry strips. Shifts run from 0630 to 1830 and 1830 to 0630, with scheduling based on unit needs. Weekend requirements are every other weekend, with holiday requirements of 2 out of 3 major holidays. RNs may be required to float to inpatient units, excluding maternity and NICU. The dress code is navy blue scrubs. Two shifts of unit-specific orientation will be provided. Successful candidates will possess a positive attitude, critical thinking skills, and a willingness to help others. This unit fosters a team environment focused on delivering high-quality care. RTO must be provided upfront and cannot exceed seven days for a 13-week contract. Additional RTO requests will not be approved once submitted. The cancellation policy allows cancellation of up to four shifts for a 13-week assignment. The charting system used is EPIC.
