Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Active Illinois license or confirmation that application process has been initiated Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - PEG tube care/feedings - CVC/PICC/Midline usage and care - Tracheostomy care - Experience caring for sedated, ventilated patients - Experience titrating vasopressors - Knowledge of sedation and pain control drips Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in a high acuity ICU setting. The unit consists of 8 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3. Common diagnoses include respiratory failure, post-surgical conditions, wound care, IV antibiotics, post-stroke, post-trauma, and cardiac patients. Nurses are responsible for titrating various drips such as Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl, Versed, Lasix, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitro, Levophed, and Dopamine. There is a charge nurse available on each shift, and a hospitalist or intensivist is present during the day. Telemetry monitoring is performed by tech staff who monitor patients’ heart rhythms. All ICU nurses are responsible for reading their own strips. Respiratory Therapy is available in-house 24/7. Nurses provide primary care; there are no nurse aides or patient care techs in the unit. Shifts are scheduled as 12-hour shifts with weekend and holiday rotation required. Floating to other units may be necessary at times. The dress code includes scrubs and approved t-shirts. Charting is done using an electronic system.
