Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Valid RN license required Certifications: ACLS and BLS required Must-Have: - Epic experience required - EKG exam must be passed on the first attempt Description: The role is for a registered nurse in the Intensive Care Unit. The nurse will provide care to critically ill and postoperative patients. This includes invasive hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management. Responsibilities also include the management of patients recovering from heart surgeries. Additional duties involve arrythmia monitoring and advanced cardiac life support. Experience with pacemaker and IABP management is necessary. Knowledge of CRRT utilization and VAD management is essential. Nurses may care for patients on ECMO. The unit consists of 10 beds dedicated to intensive care. Candidates should be prepared to float to other ICU and medical surgical units if required. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend during the contract. COVID-19 vaccination is required. Candidates should be prepared to work in a tobacco and fragrance-free environment. Travelers may be exposed to various patient diagnoses, including cardiac conditions. The nurse will work with interdisciplinary support teams to provide comprehensive care. Daily census averages around 8 patients with a focus on cardiac surgical cases. Essential skills include management of ventilated patients and interpretation of dysrhythmias. Emergency medications and procedural sedation monitoring are part of the role. Candidates should be able to manage patients with multisystem organ failure. Additional preferred experience includes handling of various advanced cardiac monitoring equipment. Nurses should be aware that risks of cancellation apply if the EKG exam is failed. The goal is to effectively support patients through complex medical situations.
