This role is for an experienced Registered Nurse to join a dynamic critical care team at a Level 1 Trauma Center in Rockford, Illinois. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to critically ill patients across Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Step-Down units, including specialized areas such as Neurology ICU, Critical Care Unit (CCU), and Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU).
The position requires a strong background in critical care nursing, with the ability to manage complex patient cases, collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary team, and adapt to varying patient acuity levels by floating between ICU and Step-Down environments. You will be instrumental in developing and executing individualized patient care plans, administering advanced treatments, and ensuring exceptional patient safety and experience.
Key Responsibilities
Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, hospital policies, and state practice acts.
Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient status, interventions, and outcomes.
Develop, initiate, and execute individualized patient plans of care, including comprehensive patient and family education.
Actively participate in department or unit performance improvement initiatives and shared governance activities.
Provide clinical expertise and guidance to other units or departments in support of the patient’s longitudinal plan of care.
Apply critical thinking skills to ensure patient safety and optimize the patient experience, escalating concerns through the appropriate chain of command.
Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to float between Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Step-Down units as needed.
Required Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program; education verification required.
Strong recent experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) setting, preferably within a Level 1 Trauma Center. (Specific years of experience not specified).
