Description

Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: MS/ICU/IMC RN Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS Must-Have: ICU experience. Pediatric experience is preferred. Description: The department has a variety of patients, including an elderly population. Common diagnoses include cardiac conditions like congestive heart failure exacerbation and atrial fibrillation. Pulmonary cases such as pneumonia and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease exacerbation are also prevalent. Neuro patients may be experiencing falls, transient ischemic attacks, or detox needs. Skin conditions like cellulitis and decubitus ulcers are frequently treated. Patients may also present gastrointestinal issues such as gastrointestinal bleeding or pancreatitis. Urological cases include urinary tract infections and acute kidney injury. Orthopedic patients may require post-operative care for hip or shoulder surgeries. Experience in managing sepsis is essential. Outpatient care includes transfusions and long-term antibiotic infusions. Stable pediatric patients may require IV medication for respiratory illness or hydration needs. Registered nurses will be required to titrate drips, including heparin and insulin. Telemetry is monitored remotely, though nurses must be able to read rhythm strips. Charge nurses take patient assignments. Nurse aides are available on the unit to assist with patient care. Respiratory therapists are present 24/7. Shifts are scheduled in 12-hour increments. Weekend and holiday work is required on a rotating basis. Nurses may be asked to float to other areas as needed. Navy scrubs are required for nurses.
