Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS Preferred Must-Have: Experience in Level I or Level II Trauma center. Experience working in hospitals with 300+ beds. Experience pulling sheaths and CRRT is highly preferred. Description: Must have experience in a Level I or Level II Trauma center. Experience working in hospitals with 300+ beds is required. ICU unit includes MICU and some SICU. The unit has 16 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 to 2. Required certifications include ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS. Common diagnoses and types of patients include CRRT (Prismaflex), rotaprone, TTM - Arctic Sun, mass transfusions, and train of 4. Frequent use of paralysis, ECMO at times, 24-hour EEG monitoring, EVD, LP drain, neurosurgery, MTP, traumas including drownings, tractor rollovers, fractures, and MVCs. Spinal injuries, sepsis, DKA, recovery surgeries, COVID, post-heart catheterization, and sometimes pulling sheaths. Nurse RNs are required to titrate drips including Precedex, pressors, anti-arrhythmics, sedation, and other common ICU drips. Charge nurse role may include assistance with assignments. A hospitalist or intensivist is available 24/7 in-house. RT services are available 24/7 assigned to ICU. All respiratory equipment is present in the unit. There is a tele monitor tech who monitors, but RNs are required to interpret strips. Schedules are available six weeks in advance and self-scheduling is discussed with leadership. Weekend and holiday requirements are included in the rotation with core staff. There are no call or standby requirements. Floating may occur as help to other units like PCU or CVICU. Dress code is black scrubs. One 12-hour shift will be done for orientation upon hire. Cancellation policy includes three shifts per 13-week contract and two shifts per 12-week contract. The charting system used is Allscripts. This position is in an acute care setting.
