The Registered Nurse performs a variety of responsible nursing care procedures requiring professional knowledge. Consideration of specific patient conditions and treatments is necessary. The ability to work independently in completing assignments is essential. Guidelines include doctors' orders, standards of care, nursing policies, and procedures. Nursing duties include the provision of inpatient care and support in the Intensive Care Unit. Care is provided to individuals of all ages and their families. There may be a requirement to float to other units in case of low census. After-hours recovery of post-operative patients may be necessary.
