Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: - Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias - Multi-system organ failure management - Blood product administration - Central line care/management - Ventilator management Description: ICU Registered Nurse for a community hospital's Intensive Care Unit. Provider support includes interpretation services, lift teams, pharmacy, phlebotomy, physical therapy, radiology, rapid response teams, respiratory services, social services, transportation, and unit secretary. 2 years of experience required. First-time travelers will be considered. On-call, weekends, and floating required. Meditech documentation is utilized. SBAR communication is expected. Dress code is blue scrubs (plain/no logos). Skills and experience required include: - Management of dysrhythmias - Multi-system organ failure - Post-cardiac surgery (not directly from the OR) - IV insulin protocols - GI surgery - Chronic/acute renal failure - Accessing ports - Arterial line management - Blood product administration - Central line care/management - PICC line management - Starting IVs - Continuous IV sedation - Procedural sedation administration - Titration of cardiac drips - Titration of vasoactive drips - CVA/acute stroke management - External ventricular drains (EVD) - Hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun - ICP monitoring - Post-neurosurgery management - Traumatic brain injury management - Assistance with management of BiPAP and CPAP - Chest tube insertion/removal assistance - Care of ventilated patients - High flow nasal cannula (HFNC) - Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs) - Suctioning (ETT, NT) - Infection prevention - Isolation precautions/PPE - Phlebotomy - Surgical wounds with drains/wound vac Preferred skills and experience include: - Neuro Intensive Care Unit experience - Surgical Intensive Care Unit experience - ECMO experience - Post-cardiac surgery (directly from the OR) - Pre/post-cardiac catheterization/intervention - Pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring - Sheath removal experience Patient age groups include adults and geriatrics. Daily census is approximately 12, with 11 beds available. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, lift teams, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation.
